Designer Chanderi Silk Suit for Sister!

My Sister's best friend (from school) got married yesterday and i wanted her to be the best possible bridesmaid, since she wanted to take snaps as well and needed a Salwar suit to be comfy at the reception, decided to use the Chanderi Silk suit material bought from Fashion And You at unbelieveably low price - a steal literally !

I took out the lace border given for sleeve portion on the fabric and used in on the neckline

Sleeves were made out of the pant fabric - did you notice my first attempt at Cowl sleeves. Cowls always fascinate me, they are so feminine and sophisticated aren't they

The pant is normal churidhaar with lots of gathers at the end!

I loved how it looked on her, the color kinds of brings out the best in her!

Anyone who does 'online clothes shopping' (does not apply to me as i sew all my outfits and those of dear ones as well!) please do leave a comment, if you have seen similar type of kurta, tunic with cowl sleeves and will this design appeal to you if you were to buy it online?

Do you see the rhinestones set in by heat press on to the fabric, this fabric made it very difficult for me to sew. Do you have any idea of any foot available or special sewing machine available to sew such fabrics like 'drapery fabrics'?

I see lot of cheap sewing machine ads online but am apprehensive if they will deliver what they promise. Have any of you tried? Also anyone from India, who has a 'Serger', if so please do let me know, where i can find one?

I would also like to know what kind of 'sewing machines' do you have (especially  the ones from India, as i would like to gain some knowledge on where to buy them from)

'Overlock machines'
'Sergers'
'Speciality sewing machines'

Any useful info is highly appreciated ! Thanks in advance!

Cowl Drape Built in duppatta

This is for my sister. Our mom got us similar fabrics (in different shades) for Diwali. Somehow managed to sew one for me 10 days back and my sister's this week.

Cowl effect has been built in to the dupatta. The dupatta has been attached with the kameez. Salwar Kameez with Cowl dupatta is ready.

The cowl here is a Pleated Style Cowl and is far better than Plain Cowl i had done earlier in my kameez.

Cowl neck is one of the most exciting and easiest one(actually believe me, i have tried it on skirts, pants and now on dupatta) and you will fall in love with it!

Pant is fully pleated style salwar.

Without further adieu, here are the pics
