Navarathri Last Day Outfit - Emerald Green Bubble Dress + Halter Top

I realized that i did not put up an individual post for this outfit and had directly added it in the Navarathri Vote for your Favorite post! This outfits deserves its share of limelight isn't it, so here it is

I made this dress in about 2.5 hours and did not try experimenting too much!

Skirt : Bubble Hem (Slightly twisted, twisted hems are my latest fetish and i am trying variations before i come up with a tutorial)

Yes the skirt is bit long and even looks like Harem pants in the below shot, but i loved the material so much and did'nt feel like cutting out the length and since she wears a green T-shirt (the only school uniform!) on about 2 Fridays in a month, i do scout for lot of green skirts / pants to go with it and this is the latest to join such collection!

Top: Halter Neck with ties! Pleated tucks with twist at center + Sequin embellishment + elasticated back

Balloon Frock - B'day gift for DD's Friend

Yesterday i had posted about how it was destiny that my DD ended up wearing the dress which i had envisioned as a gift  - Bling Balloon Destiny Frock. Since the bodice fabric played up a bit, decided to switch skirt fabric and retain the dress for DD and make another dress to be gifted. Here is the 'Other' Balloon dress which was gifted to my DD's friend. Since the bodice fabric is plain silk crepe, decided to add element of interest by shirring it

Shirred 2 pieces  one in Lengthwise and crosswise direction and then patched them up. This took lot of time about 2 hours!

The dress is fully lined with cotton. Since little girls are very finicky and don't like anything that pricks, i take lot of time to make sure the dress looks as good on the inside as it does on the outside.

One new thing i tried with this dress is used elastic to gather the balloon skirt at the hem and attaching the fashion fabric, lining fabric of skirt and elastic all in one go

Center Panel in bodice is shirred crosswise and side panels are shirred lengthwise

Close up of how the Balloon Skirt flares when the dress is twirled around!

Here is the reminder snap of what the Bling Balloon Destiny Frock

Hope to get some action pics and plan to make my DD wear her Destiny Balloon Frock on the same day as her friend wears this one and hope to snap them up together !!!

Bling 'o' Balloon Destiny Frock !

Why have I named this outfit 'Bling Balloon Destiny Frock' ???

Bling = For the Bling in the bodice fabric (the fabric gave me TOUGH time as i had to sew it again and again to get the stitch on the seams!!!; Changed needles - type, size, nothing worked, wonder what to do with about 3/4 yard of fabric still lying around!!!! My sis had got this fabric about a year ago!!!)

Balloon = For the Balloon skirt (this was simple wasn't it)

Destiny = Now this has a reason behind it, i started sewing this dress as gift for my DD's friend's b'day. After finishing the bodice i realised it is not quite right to gift this bodice fabric which is quite finicky and the seams aren't as professional as i normally sew; so decided to retain it for my DD and decided to make a new one for b'day girl . Hope to sew it just in time to be ready for 2moro (1st June). Fingers crossed.

So my DD was destined to get this frock ! She is one lucky girl isn't she? Will post action pictures 2moro at the B'day Blast!

Look At End of Post for More Action Shots !!! (she was in the mood to pose today!!!!)

Lime n Lemoney Balloon skirt !

Remember Adithi's Birthday Ball Gown (November) , using the leftover fabric, made a balloon skirt.

Organiza fabric for the external layer which is gathered and used the brocade fabric (used in bodice of the gown) to give body to the skirt. The skirt has cotton lining as you can see the picture which shows the wrong side of the skirt.

My DD loved it and it got some rave reviews in her school as well ! It was Adithi's last day at school, [oh Yes! Summer vacations have begun - my real test begins :0) ]

My best critic 'my dear sister' also liked it and said so on her own !

Oh Yes! I Would Love you get M-O-R-E- COMMENTS from all you Lovely Readers!
