Deepavali Sewing - Adithis Outfit

Adithi's outfit was the last to be made in the series of Deepavali outfits!. Unusual as i usually sew up her outfit first, but since i had made the elaborate Birthday dress and then the pirate costume, had to give a break to sewing her outfit so that i can come back with fresh ideas

Made the skirt part quite easily as the design was just the same i had used in previous ghaghra choli which she wore for Dance Competition.

Yoke at front skirt and elasticated yoke at back wasit with pleated lower skirt (knife pleasts)

For the top i was bit skeptical if can keep it as tie up as that would render the blouse unwearable at school, but still decided to go ahead as the fabric was silk brocade and hence would require some breathing space to make her feel comfortable.

The  top is fully lined. Piped Neckline and hemline. with contrast drawstring tie up closure at back

The part which took the most amount of time in taking a decision was the sleeves, i was caught between puff sleevs, sleeveless and some other sleeve option. Then decided to use self faced cap sleeve, which makes it modest and yet still gives her the comfort . glad i choose this as it works like magic when i had used the left over silk fabric from the bottom part of my Deepavali Dress.

Fabric covered buttons are my latest craze and hence they get featured in this outfit too to break the montony of the print in brocade fabric and add some visual interest at the front and that's it the top was ready just a day before Deepavali, late into the night ! Last minute sewing before any festival or celebration has become my Trademark style ;)

Oh yes how did i forget those danglings at the end of the tie backs at the back of the blouse are actually brocade fabric covered buttons, handsewn wrong side facing each other, together !!! the top dori at the neckline also has ghunghrros as she loves the tinkling sound of them.

All in all , Adithi loved dancing around in the outfit, so i am happy and relieved too.

Sisters Deepavali Outfit and the Longest Sewing hours taken for this year - the Birthday Dress inspired by Princess Aurora coming up soon ...stay tuned
